hi,hui:
here is my course for 4years,maths and phys joint, could you tell me which course is about geometry, including noneuclidean geometry those yummy things? http://www.physics.umanitoba.ca/ugrad/phys_math/phys_math.html
and about how much geometry will i need to learn as to be a prospective
“theoretical student” ? thanks.
and by the way,i appriciate your suggestion(which is posted on your old hui’s thinkpad) for me to choose”maths and physics combined” program,i originally only applied for a single physics honors…i will transfer next year, school changes, program remains.

Courses that may be related to goemetries are
1 MATH 1300 Vector Geometry and Linear Algebra 3
3 MATH 3230 Metric Spaces 3
Here goes my suggestion, you may want to choose one of those year 4 Math 3/4xxx as differential geometry or group theories for physicists if it’s not include in “Advanced Algebra”.
The list seems awesome, but wait, you definitely need some “Dancing club” or “Franch” or whatever classes where you can meet chicks. good luck ~

chicks, hehe,,,i met my chick already in kingston and that is one of the reasons that i am transfering, aonther reason now comes to my mind is that, winnipeg is a fridge!…
i just came back from a seminar about electron scattering and hadron structure.(i went for coffee,,,),during which i was thinking why they don’t use neutrino in the scattering experiment, which is lighter and neutral, should bring less uncertainty in position…is that only because the difficulty to obtain high-energy neutrinos as we cannot accelerate it by electric field?
thanks for your suggestion.
by the way,,,are u still a TA now?,,,don’t get too cruel to your student, they are gonna hate you,,haha
my mechanic experiment TA is a genius,he can find out a such mistake that i wrote 7.8+0.02 for 7.80+0.02 in a report of 12 pages..

about the neutrino scattering,i think the main reason is that it’s too difficult to detect the reflected neutrino by detectors,,,right?

Yes, neutrino scattering only occurs in weak interaction which is hard to detect, or say, the scattering cross section(probability) is tiny. To get significant numbers of events, experimentalists need huge amount of matterials such as tons of water as collision target. here’s a picture

Neutrino masses and neutrino oscillations are hot topics that can result in nobel prize awarded research.
As a good TA, I don’t kill. One tip for you: no matter how messy your pages are, write the results correctly, clearly and in a box.
